Coalition of APC Support Groups Declares Support in Gombe Meeting. 

A major political movement in Nigeria’s North-East has endorsed former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as the ideal running mate to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

TJ News Nigeria reports that the endorsement came from the Coalition of APC Support Groups, a prominent body of political stakeholders and grassroots mobilizers loyal to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration was made during a strategic meeting held in Gombe on Monday, attended by regional leaders, political supporters, and key party loyalists.

Group Cites Dogara’s National Appeal, Political Pedigree

In a communiqué issued after the gathering, the coalition cited Dogara’s track record, national acceptability, and religious inclusiveness as key factors behind their decision.

“At a time such as this, when efforts are on to build a brighter Nigeria through unity, impactful political representation, and religious harmony, Yakubu Dogara is the most qualified person to lead,” the statement read.

The group described Dogara as a “bridge-builder” with the political experience to complement President Tinubu’s leadership and strengthen the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential race.

Delegation to Visit Abuja with Endorsement Resolution

TJ News Nigeria learnt that the coalition has concluded plans to send a high-powered delegation to President Tinubu in Abuja to formally present their resolution. The group is urging the President and the APC leadership to consider Dogara as vice-presidential candidate in the next electoral cycle.

Dogara, who served as Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2019, is widely respected for his moderate stance and his appeal across both Christian and Muslim communities. His endorsement is seen as a strategic move by Northern APC stakeholders to secure regional balance and national unity.

The development comes amid early political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several interest groups already lobbying for key positions in the APC’s future campaign structure.
