Edo State — New findings have emerged surrounding the viral video showing a man—reportedly a lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic—being stripped, assaulted, and filmed in a degrading manner. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting an affair with a married woman, credible accounts now point to a different motive: retaliation over a cult-related dispute.
TJ News Nigeria learnt that the assaulted lecturer, identified as Mr. Ehighie, was allegedly lured to the residence of his neighbour, Mr. Aliyu Suleiman Lucky (popularly known as “As E Dey Hot”), under false pretenses.

Lecturer Allegedly Tricked, Held at Gunpoint
The incident reportedly took place in Ibienafe, Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State. Sources close to the matter revealed that Mr. Lucky, who shares a low perimeter fence with Mr. Ehighie, called the lecturer on the phone, requesting assistance with a faulty water connection. Trusting his neighbour, Mr. Ehighie left work to help.
However, upon arrival, he was allegedly ambushed by Mr. Lucky and a group of suspected cultists and internet fraudsters. Witnesses say the attackers, some of whom reside behind Ibienafe Primary School, were armed and forcibly stripped Mr. Ehighie naked.
TJ News Nigeria gathered that gunshots were fired during the incident, and the victim was filmed under duress. He was reportedly coerced at gunpoint to perform lewd acts on camera.

Cult Grudge Allegedly Behind Attack
Contrary to widely circulated claims, the woman linked to the scandal is not a student and reportedly was not even in town at the time of the incident. She and her husband are said to be neighbours of the victim, not strangers or romantic partners. Furthermore, she has no newborn child, and her youngest is reportedly over two years old.
Multiple sources allege the assault was a retaliatory act against Mr. Ehighie for intervening in a recent attempted cult initiation. According to those familiar with the case, the lecturer had prevented some students from being forced into cultism, which may have angered the group behind the attack.
Extortion Attempt and Police Involvement
Following the assault, the suspects allegedly demanded ₦3 million from Mr. Ehighie’s wife in exchange for not releasing the humiliating footage. After the case was reported to the police, the perpetrators reportedly fled the area.
