In a move that has sparked widespread controversy, the Bloody Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, has summoned the suspended Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and his Deputy, Dr. Ngozi Ordu, to appear before him for questioning.

The inquiry, scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, will scrutinize political appointments made during Fubara’s two-year administration.

“This exercise aligns with the Sole Administrator’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and lasting peace in Rivers State governance,” the statement read.

The summons has ignited fierce debate, with critics questioning the legality of a non-elected official interrogating a democratically elected governor. Political analysts describe the development as unprecedented, warning that it could escalate tensions in the already volatile state.

“Governor Fubara is expected to provide a comprehensive explanation justifying his potential reinstatement,” the statement added. Both Fubara and Ordu have been directed to attend the session in person.

The unfolding situation has raised concerns over democratic norms in Rivers State, with many questioning whether due process is being upheld in the ongoing political dispute.
