The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly rejected a call by Hon. Francis Waive, a House of Representatives member, urging the party to adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

APC Distances Itself from Waive’s Proposal

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., Delta APC clarified that Hon. Waive’s remarks were strictly personal and did not represent the party’s official position.

“We wish to state unequivocally that Hon. Waive’s position is purely his personal opinion and does not reflect the stance of Delta APC, its leadership, or the generality of its members,” the statement read.

The party stressed that it remains committed to challenging the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027 and has no plans to adopt Oborevwori as its candidate.

APC Promises Open, Competitive Primaries

Delta APC reassured party members and the public that its gubernatorial candidate would be chosen through a transparent and competitive selection process.

“We have an array of eminently qualified and capable individuals who will offer Deltans a viable and credible alternative in 2027,” the statement added.

The party reaffirmed its goal of providing real change in Delta State and vowed to present a strong candidate who reflects the aspirations of the people.
