Lagos, Nigeria – Renowned media mogul and former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has voiced strong criticism against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, highlighting the escalating economic hardships and political instability affecting Nigerians nationwide.
Nationwide Hardship Amid Governance Challenges
In a recent interview on News Central TV, Momodu lamented the pervasive distress among Nigerians, attributing it to economic mismanagement and governance failures. He stated:
“Everywhere you turn in Nigeria, people are crying. I have never seen this level of bitterness, and I hope the president is taking this criticism in good faith.”
Momodu emphasized that the current administration’s policies have exacerbated the nation’s economic woes, leading to widespread dissatisfaction among the populace.

Defections Driven by Political Survival, Not Ideology
Addressing the recent wave of political defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Momodu argued that these moves are motivated by self-preservation rather than genuine support for the party’s ideology. He remarked:
“So I’m not sure that the president actually knows what is going on. If you see all the governors decamping to your party, won’t you think you are the greatest thing that happened to Nigeria? You can’t blame the man if he feels that way.”
He further criticized the lack of accountability among public officeholders who switch parties while holding elected positions, suggesting that such actions undermine democratic principles.
Calls for Democratic Integrity and Accountability
Momodu urged President Tinubu to uphold democratic values and ensure that governance is rooted in transparency and accountability. He warned against the dangers of political complacency and the erosion of democratic institutions.(Pulse)
“Defections in Nigeria are rarely based on party performance or ideology, but rather political survival,” he noted.
Highlighting the importance of constructive criticism, Momodu called on the administration to listen to the voices of concerned citizens and take proactive steps to address the nation’s challenges.
