Adamu Maina Waziri Alleges Rising Insecurity, Economic Collapse, and Ethnic Polarisation Under Tinubu
A former Minister of Police Affairs and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, calling it a “disastrous catastrophe” that has underperformed even when compared to the much-criticised tenure of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
Waziri made the remarks during an interview on Trust Television, where he expressed serious concerns over Nigeria’s direction under Tinubu, warning that the country is sliding further into crisis across all major sectors.
TJ News Nigeria gathered that the former minister accused the current administration of failing on all fronts, citing worsening insecurity, a collapsing economy, and growing ethnic divisions as key indicators of what he termed “national regression.”
Tinubu Government Worse Than Buhari’s – Waziri
“If the Buhari government was a failure, the Tinubu government in the last two years is a disastrous catastrophe,” Waziri said.
“It has failed in all ramifications, and the country has regressed.”
The former minister stated that Tinubu’s leadership has brought no reprieve to Nigerians, who are grappling with severe economic hardship, food inflation, and unemployment, among other issues.
He also criticised what he described as worsening insecurity, claiming that many regions remain under siege by bandits and insurgents despite government assurances.
“Endorsements From Victims of Insecurity Are Disingenuous”
Waziri expressed disbelief that individuals from violence-ridden regions continue to endorse the Tinubu administration in public forums.
“I am surprised that people whose local governments are under the control of bandits can appear on national television to endorse this government,” he said.
“This is either disingenuous or a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.”
He warned Nigerians against being swayed by staged media appearances, urging citizens to base their assessments on the daily realities of poverty, insecurity, and economic dysfunction.
Calls for Accountability and National Reflection
Waziri further questioned the credibility of any reelection bid by the Tinubu administration, stating that a government which has overseen “national decline in every sector” cannot validly seek a second term without public scrutiny.
He called on Nigerians to begin a sober assessment of leadership performance, placing national interest above political allegiance or sentiment.
“This government has failed to deliver hope or solutions. Nigerians must look beyond propaganda and demand accountability.”
