Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant Islamic festivals observed globally. It honours Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, a test of faith that Muslims around the world commemorate through prayers, sacrifices, and charitable acts.
The celebration typically lasts two days, but in countries like Nigeria, where Muslims form a substantial part of the population, the festivities often extend through an official two-day holiday period, allowing families and communities ample time to observe religious rites and engage in social festivities.
Public Notice
With the declaration of Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, as public holidays, all federal ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as educational institutions and banks, will remain closed on those dates. Citizens are advised to plan their activities accordingly.
