Ibusa, Delta State – A female realtor, identified as Esther, has been abducted by gunmen in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. The incident occurred on Monday near the Admiralty University of Nigeria, sending shockwaves through the community.

How the Attack Happened

According to sources, Esther was on a routine land inspection with three colleagues when their vehicle was ambushed by armed assailants. The attackers opened fire, forcing the other occupants to flee for safety.

“They went for inspection, and they were on their way back when they were ambushed. The gunmen shot at the vehicle, and the others managed to escape while Esther was taken away,” a source disclosed.

One of the escapees reportedly sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment in a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police Response and Ambush

Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident, revealing that a team dispatched to rescue the victim was ambushed. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, stated that one officer was shot but survived.

“Yes, it’s confirmed. Some police officers who were going for the rescue of the victim were ambushed, and a police officer was shot, but nobody died,” Edafe said.

Rising Insecurity in Delta State

The abduction comes just days after another kidnapping incident in Issele-Azagba, where a farmer was taken by gunmen. These incidents have raised concerns over the growing insecurity in the state.

Residents are calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to combat criminal activities in the area. Many fear that if urgent action is not taken, kidnappings and violent attacks could spiral out of control.
