JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results — Over 39,000 Withheld for Exam Malpractice
ABUJA, Nigeria — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which saw over 1.9 million candidates participate nationwide.
JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, announced the release at a press conference held in Abuja on Friday, noting that the examination was conducted across 882 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres under strict supervision.
Key Statistics from the 2025 UTME Results
- Total Registered Candidates: 2,030,862
- Successfully Verified for Examination: 1,957,000
- Absent Candidates: 71,705
- Invalid Fingerprint Rejections: 2,157

Despite the successful conduct of the exams, the board has withheld the results of 39,834 candidates due to issues linked to examination malpractice, pending further investigations.
Crackdown on Exam Fraud
Prof. Oloyede revealed that 80 candidates are currently being investigated for alleged involvement in various forms of exam malpractice, including impersonation and multiple registrations. Anambra State topped the chart with the highest number of suspects—14 individuals currently under investigation.
“The Board is committed to upholding the integrity of the examination process and will not hesitate to sanction offenders. Each malpractice case will be reviewed individually, and appropriate actions will follow,” said Oloyede.
CBT Monitoring and Logistics
This year’s UTME was described by JAMB as “the most successful in recent history,” with more than 10,000 officials deployed across all examination centres. Each CBT centre was monitored by at least 10 invigilators, including independent monitors, security agents, and JAMB technical officers.
The registrar also clarified that candidates whose fingerprints were rejected at the point of biometric verification would undergo case-by-case reviews, as many were flagged for registration infractions.
Isolated Results for Underage Candidates
In a rare development, JAMB reported that 467 underage candidates scored above the national minimum cut-off. Their results, along with others flagged for irregularities, are currently undergoing further scrutiny to ensure only meritorious students are processed for admission.
“We are isolating these results for deeper validation. We want to ensure that the credibility of our system remains intact, especially in cases involving minors,” Oloyede added.
