The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in conjunction with heads of Nigerian tertiary institutions, has officially announced the minimum cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 academic session into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and colleges of nursing sciences.
TJ News Nigeria reports that the decision was reached during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which brought together Vice Chancellors, Rectors, Provosts, and officials from regulatory bodies and examination councils across the country.
Minimum Admission Scores Approved:
- Universities – 150
- Polytechnics – 100
- Colleges of Education – 100
- Colleges of Nursing Sciences – 140
Policy Basis and Institutional Autonomy
The minimum score serves as a baseline requirement. However, individual institutions retain the authority to set higher cut-off marks based on competitiveness, programme demand, or internal admission policies, provided they do not go below the national minimum.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, reiterated that:
“The policy allows institutions to set their standards, but none shall admit candidates below the agreed minimum score set by the stakeholders today.”
What This Means for Candidates
- Candidates with UTME scores below the specified thresholds will not be considered for admission in their chosen institutions.
- Aspirants are advised to check their preferred institution’s official admission portal for specific departmental cut-offs and screening guidelines.
- Institutions have also been reminded to adhere strictly to the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to ensure transparency and fairness.
Important Notes:
- Meeting the minimum cut-off does not guarantee admission.
- Admission will also depend on O’Level results, post-UTME screening performance, and course quota.
- Candidates are advised to upload their O’Level results on JAMB CAPS to avoid automatic disqualification.
Next Steps
- The admission process is expected to begin immediately across various institutions.
- Students can monitor their admission status on the JAMB CAPS portal.
- Further announcements on admission timelines and deadlines will be made available by each institution.
JAMB Cut-Off Mark for nursing 2025 is 150 including other requirements from the institution.
