Abuja, Nigeria – Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has once again taken aim at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that Nigeria deserves better leadership.
Speaking through his media aide, Paul Ibe, on Sunday, Atiku stated that President Tinubu’s past must be fully disclosed to Nigerians and the international community. The comments were made in response to recent legal developments in the United States.
Calls for Transparency and Accountability
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Ibe wrote:
“Just about time, the records of Tinubu, including his forfeiture of funds for alleged drugs trafficking and certificate at Chicago State University @ChicagoState, are made public.

The Black nation’s most populous country does not deserve a leader with a tainted past.
Whatever is being hidden inside must be unveiled. Nigerians and the rest of the world deserve to know. There must be full disclosure.”
Atiku’s camp continues to push for transparency regarding Tinubu’s historical and legal records, especially those relating to allegations of drug trafficking and educational qualifications.
US Court Orders FBI to Release Tinubu’s Records
Earlier on Sunday, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to release documents relating to President Bola Tinubu. The court’s ruling follows months of requests for information tied to his past legal encounters and academic history.
This latest development has reignited debates surrounding the president’s background, with opposition voices like Atiku demanding clarity and openness.
Ongoing Political Tensions
This is not the first time Atiku has called for greater transparency regarding Tinubu’s past. The former vice president has repeatedly questioned the integrity of Nigeria’s current leadership and insists that the nation must uphold the highest standards of public accountability.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with economic and political challenges, such high-profile accusations are expected to stir further public discourse.
