A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and left several others injured on their way to the NYSC orientation camp in Ebonyi State.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ebonyi, Henry Igwe, confirmed the incident on Thursday in Abakaliki. He disclosed that the crash occurred on Wednesday around 2 p.m. along the Amasiri-Okigwe Road in Amenu village, Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.
Details of the Crash
The accident involved a 14-seater Toyota commercial bus and a commercial Mercedes Benz tipper. Preliminary investigations by the FRSC suggest that speeding by the commercial bus may have contributed to the crash.

According to Mr. Igwe:
“From our preliminary findings, it might have been caused by speeding on the part of the commercial bus. The identities and details of the number of those injured have yet to be ascertained because the victims were actually rescued by bystanders in the area.”
Injuries and Medical Response
The injured passengers were rushed to David Umahi Federal Hospital in Uburu, located in Ohaozara Local Government Area. The FRSC commander reported that the victims are currently in stable condition as they receive medical attention.
The FRSC continues to urge drivers to exercise caution and prioritize safety to prevent such avoidable accidents.
