“INEC has allegedly been compromised by APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who is now reportedly providing the list of delegates for the Bwari Area Council local government election. Aspirants and legitimate delegates have unanimously rejected the alleged fake list submitted through the APC Local Council Chairman,” the source claimed.

According to the insider, authentic delegates and aspirants were sidelined, and the list accepted by INEC was neither debated nor endorsed by party stakeholders in the local council.

“You collected money to destroy the system. Stop the mischief. We know those who are behind this,” he said during the heated altercation at the venue.

Similarly, SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, said she was yet to confirm the incident, stating:

“I will call to confirm as I am out of town at the moment, but let me confirm and get back to you.”

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed, and no arrests have been announced.

Rising Concerns Over Internal Party Democracy

The violent disruption in Bwari adds to growing concerns about the state of internal democracy within Nigeria’s ruling party. Analysts warn that unresolved issues around delegate list manipulation, imposition of candidates, and lack of transparency could ignite broader unrest ahead of upcoming local and national elections.

Political observers note that the integrity of the delegate selection process is critical to the legitimacy of primary elections and party leadership structures.

The matter is expected to draw further scrutiny from electoral stakeholders and civil society organizations monitoring party conduct and democratic processes.

TJ News Nigeria will continue to monitor this developing story.
