President Tinubu’s Campaign Coordinator Resigns from APC, Defects to ADC

Aliyu Saulawa, a former top campaign aide to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and late President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
TJ News Nigeria reports that the defection took place on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Katsina State during the inauguration of the ADC state chapter.
From APC Powerhouse to ADC Defector
Saulawa, who once served as:

- National Coordinator of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement (BATM)
…said he could no longer continue with the APC due to its persistent failure to deliver on key promises, particularly to citizens in the North.
“The insecurity, economic hardship, and lack of political will to address the suffering in our communities have made my continued stay in the APC impossible,” Saulawa stated at the event.
Mass Defection Hits Katsina APC, PDP, NNPP
TJ News Nigeria learnt that the Katsina ADC inauguration turned into a major political event, with hundreds of defectors from:
- All Progressives Congress (APC)
- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
- New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)
…crossing over to the ADC in protest of failed governance.

The event, held at the Continental Event Centre, was led by Dr. Mustapha Inuwa, a prominent political figure in Katsina, and attracted representatives from all 34 local government areas of the state.
Defectors Blame Insecurity, Economic Collapse
Defectors cited the following issues as their motivation:
- Worsening insecurity, especially for farmers and traders in the Northwest
- Rising poverty and food scarcity
- Plummeting value of the naira
- Unfulfilled campaign promises by APC-led governments
A representative of the National Political Coalition Group, Lawal Batagarawa, condemned the economic direction of the country under the current leadership, stating:

“Businesses are collapsing, inflation is rising daily, and the average Nigerian can barely afford three meals. We can’t continue like this.”
ADC Promises Better Governance in 2027
In his address, Katsina ADC Chairman, Usman Musa Wamba, welcomed the new members and expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
“ADC is here to restore hope, deliver justice, and provide competent leadership. We are calling on all young people and patriotic Nigerians to join us in building a new future,” Wamba said.
He assured supporters that ADC’s growing coalition is ready to challenge the dominance of both the APC and PDP with a fresh political vision rooted in equity, development, and citizen empowerment.
